Piemonte Blind Tasting Competition for horeca professionals: join the competition!
A unique sensory experience awaits professionals on April 19, 2027, at the 18th edition of Barolo & Friends, the largest event dedicated to Piedmont wines in Denmark: Consorzio I Vini del Piemonte presents the third Piedmont Blind Tasting Competition.
This innovative interactive competition will reward those with the highest knowledge of Piedmont wines. Following the extraordinary success and high demand of the previous edition, the competition has expanded its capacity this year to welcome even more participants! Wine experts will compete to recognize 6 Piedmont wines served blind, answering an interactive quiz testing their ability to identify grape varieties, appellations, vintages, and aging techniques. Professionals can join the competition as a single player or in teams of 2-3.
The competition is organized in collaboration with Thomas Ilkjær and the team from WG23. Thomas Ilkjær, renowned Danish wine journalist, author of the leading guide to Italian wines in the Nordic countries, and head of the Vinakademiet sommelier school in Copenhagen, is also behind the Danish Championship in Blind Tasting. The event will utilize the same proven digital answering platform: via a simple QR code on their own devices (smartphones, tablets, PCs), participants submit answers in real time—with wines and live leaderboards revealed after each 10-minute round.
Grand Finale & Prizes:
The overall winner will take home an exclusive 3-day trip to Langa for 2-3 people in partnership with LoveLanghe, including visits to prestigious wineries, typical gastronomic experiences, and accommodation on the Langhe Hills (flights, transfers, and car rental not included). Generous magnum bottles will be awarded to the second and third place winners!
